Life Out Here

Just a small way to keep my friends and family, who are strewn about the country, in The Know about my life in Seattle.

Merry Freakin' Ho Ho

I'm sick. And I'm pretty sure I got sick at exactly 4:30pm yesterday, after christmas dinner.

I was unusually quiet, and a bit agitated, through dinner. Then my nose clogged up. I thought, must be the wine. Histamines. Bummer.

Then the sneezing started. Those long bouts of 15 and 20 sneezes at a time. The ones that bring Steve to the door of the room I've retreated to, asking "Is there anything I can do for you?" Okay, dog dander. Just allergies. Bummer.

When we got home, changed clothes (still thinking it was the dog dander) and I started playing with my new iPod. Then I got cold. And started sneezing more. Then got even more stuffed up. And it was all downhill from there.

So here I am, at 4am, on my computer, because I can't sleep when I have to breathe through my mouth. And now I'm just mad. I enjoy my sleep very much. I don't mind being sick, as long as I can still get air through at least one nostril. I took some Sudafed and put a hot washcloth on my face and I've gotten the left nostril working again. I think the peppermint tea is helping, too.

And, if I may gripe for just a minute......I wasn't prepared to be sick. So I have no decent tissues in the house. Just the recycled brand, which is just as bad as dragging toilet paper (again, the recycled brand) across my delicate nose. I need the ones with lotion and aloe and stuff. That's the first goal as soon as it's light out.

And! I had lots and lots of plans for today and tomorrow. I wanted to reorganize the kitchen so I can fit my Magic Bullet accessories in the bottom drawer by the fridge. I need to buy one of those knife magnet bar thingies to mount above the stove for my new knifes, because I don't want them banging around in the drawer - it will ruin the blades. I wanted to buy some cd cases to put our dvds in so we can get rid of the rack under the stairs and then Steve can put all of his bass amps under there, thus, clearing out the dining room. I need up upload cds into iTunes so I can organize even more and make play lists. I wanted to hit the Banana Republic sale at the new petite store that opened recently. Big plans! I have two days off from work! Which, I'm thinking now, may be billed as sick time rather than vacation.

Ack. Anyway.
I guess I'll go lay down and try sleeping again. Wish me luck.

Hi Bink - sorry to hear about your problems with snot! Snot really is a bummer - people need to revolt and say "NO MORE!" We will not put up with this another minute - move it out buddy! Okay, sorry for that...I am the weird sister who has no cause, for the moment. Anyway - thanks for the Christmas card - what a great picture! Glad to hear that you have an iPod! Love it! Hope you feel better...
Love from Sunny Florida (dig, dig) :)
