Life Out Here

Just a small way to keep my friends and family, who are strewn about the country, in The Know about my life in Seattle.

Well I have finally gotten enough energy to lift my arms and type a update on my yoga class from Tuesday.

Yoga kicked my ass. And my friend's ass.

I've done yoga before. I'm no newbie. And I did the contort-your-body-where-your-legs-wrap-around-themselves yoga. Loved it! I didn't think this vinyasa stuff was going to be too hard. But my god, those muscles in the front of my shoulders (what are those? the deltoids?) are killing me. I think it's from the warrior pose. You don't realize how hard it is to hold your arms up, especially in a beginner class where the instructor keeps babbling on about correct alignment and you just want him to move on to the next pose because your arms and legs are shaking so bad you want to just collapse.

Hypervenalating is an issue too. The room is heated to around 88 degrees and you're supposed to focus on your breath. On the inhale, you move into one pose, on the exhale you move to the next pose.....I tend to fall behind (which is OKAY. They stress that you need to move at your own one is a loser...) because I don't breath as quickly as the instructor does. When the instructor asked how we were, one woman said "dizzy". I was totally with her. We were told to just slow down then. Take our time.....b r e a t h e....

All in all, I guess it's not so bad. And I know I need to do it. And the instructor is hot. So it's a win/win situation, really.

Our second class is tonight. We'll see how we do with these sore muscles. It may be harder than the first class.

Ha! I haven't done much exercise in the last several months....okay....the last year. Anyway, I have a Baptiste yoga DVD from Netflix and it kicks my butt. Even the downward dog pose is tough for me right now! My biceps are strong from carrying Lacey, but the rest of my arms are W-E-A-K!

Enjoy your class!

88 degrees? What are they trying to do - kill you??? Oh, well - burnin' calories and a hot instructor! Not bad.

I guess if you mix the yoga with the PT (still doing that) for the knees, you should be in great shape, huh???

Maybe that is what I need...I would think I was in Cambodia with the temps and maybe even feel like it too with the stretching! I miss all the activity and "yoga" the kids create...carrying several, swimming with several hanging on you...trying to keep your balance, reaching for several...all at one time - it's kind of like yoga just busier! Yeah...sounds like a good idea, thanks! And maybe I get a hot instructor too! hehe Peace!
