Life Out Here

Just a small way to keep my friends and family, who are strewn about the country, in The Know about my life in Seattle.

Poof! Squak Like a Chicken!

So I took a How to Lose Weight by Hypnosis class on Monday. Very interesting.
The woman owns Living Lite and is a certified hypnotherapist. There were about 12 of us in the classroom. She talked to us for 45 minutes or so about food and why the population is overweight. She told us our stomachs are about the size of our fists, which is appalling, given how much we eat. She told us it was okay to say no when someone keeps offering us seconds, even though we may hurt their feelings.

Then she turned the lights down, had us get into a comfortable sitting postion and started talking to us. She had us close our eyes, and she just talked. She told us we'd be more thirsty than we ever had and we'd drink a lot of water. She said we would leave food on our plate because we would not let the food tell us when we were done, we would tell the food when we were done!

On Tuesday I drank 3 bottles of water. I had only half of my normal amount at sushi - Steve asked if I was feeling okay. Last night I had half of my Pagliacci salad and only 1 piece of pizza. And I was done. Just like that. I've walked or ridden the stationary bike each night this week. I bitch the whole time I'm doing it, but I'm doing it.

I think I'd like to do a one on one session too. Just to reinforce what she's already planted in my head. She has a business that offers classes and monthly dues, but it's a bit out of my price range. She said some people have taken her one class (2.5 hours) and lost 20 lbs. We'll see. So far, I'm sold. But then again, I'm always sold the first couple of weeks, then it tapers off (Curves, Weight Watchers, yoga....etc).

I'll keep you posted.
