Life Out Here

Just a small way to keep my friends and family, who are strewn about the country, in The Know about my life in Seattle.

"If you're going to relapse, relapse good!"

A friend said this to me years and years ago. And now I know what she meant.

Katie's & Chris' wedding reception was yesterday.

But first. Shoe shopping. All morning. I came home with three pairs of shoes - black patent leather, plain ol' black leather and red leather. All heels. Hot stuff. I settled on the patent leather after trying them all on with the new dress. I'll take the other two pair back this weekend. Ya gotta love return policies.

Now, the reception. I overdid it a bit. I'm adult enough to admit this. With the exception of a very nasty bruise on my tush (dancing + heels + cocktails = an America's Funniest Home Videos kind of fall), I survived relatively unscathed.

I think I would have been fine if 1) drinks had not been free 2) waiters had not been walking around with trays of drinks 3) I had stuck with just wine (not the Valentinis) and 4) I had remembered to eat something at some point during the day. This last one occured to me at 10pm, when were at the After Party, and Steve, responsible man that he is, ordered two large cheese pizzas for the gang.

In my defense, I do remember quite a few other friends overdoing it and acting a bit out of character. Let's just chalk it up to getting caught up in the celebration. Put it behind us (ha! get it....."behind" us?) and move on.

And not drink for a whole 'nother month.
