Life Out Here

Just a small way to keep my friends and family, who are strewn about the country, in The Know about my life in Seattle.

D & S & J & Snow

It snowed again Wednesday night, and one of the hardest hit areas was Issaquah. Which is where Daniela and Sergio were staying. So, needless to say, Daniela and I didn't have lunch on Thursday like we'd planned. Instead, I got a manicure, had the oil in my car changed then hit happy hour at Ray's Boathouse with Steve. Lovely day. Not worthy of using up a vacation day, but hey, whadya gonna do? The roads were icey that morning, so at least I didn't have drive to work at 8am.

Daniela and Jonah finally made it into town on Friday, so they came and picked me, Steve and Kim up and we met Sergio for lunch downtown. Jonah has gotten so big! And has a full head of dark, curley hair - just like his mama.

Friday night, Kim-n-Tim came over for dinner (potato soup) and a movie (Little Miss Sunshine).

This afternoon, D&S came over, Kim-n-Tim brought over the Rosita's order we had placed and we just sat around and ate all afternoon. And it snowed the entire day. Beautiful! Ballard was just dusted nicely, so driving was too terrible.

And, we had two hummingbirds today! Mom says I should take down my feeder so they'll have nothing to eat and go south, but it's probably too late for that. So I'll just leave the feeder up and maybe take it down next October or November - whenever they're supposed to leave.

I wish we could have spent more time with D&S. While the snow was lovely, it really screwed up everyone's plan. But Daniela wants to come back in June for three weeks or so for "research" so we'll get to spend more time with them then. And maybe Steve and I will just have to make a trip to New York soon.

I NEED pictures of Jonah. I told Daniela in my last card to her that I needed pictures, so maybe one of you will get on the stick! Be careful driving in the snow!

Wow...I can't believe that you had hummingbirds in the snow! Crazy! I bet if I kept food out this year, we'd still have some - since we've had such a mild winter. Sorry the plans didn't work out the way you wanted, but at least you had a mini-vacation and enjoyed the weekend.
