Life Out Here

Just a small way to keep my friends and family, who are strewn about the country, in The Know about my life in Seattle.

Back to Work....

Well, that was fun. Five whole days off. *sigh*

Sunday night, Donna, Sandra, Dean, Steve and I went dancin' at the Little Red Hen. It was a different band, so it wasn't strickly country music. Steve, Dean and I took the country cha-cha lesson beforehand (which I didn't care for) but they didn't play any songs that we could dance to afterwards. So, Steve and Donna sat while Sandra and I boogied our asses off. Sandra wants to learn some dance steps so I get to practice my lead with her. We'll have to go back when there's a different band. More country, less Elton John and Neil Diamond. Ack.

Yesterday, Steve and I went to breakfast, then went shopping. We decided to hit the Big Goodwill downtown, since we hadn't been in a while. I told Steve, as we were leaving, that I may be over Goodwill now. At least, the big one. I like our little Ballard one. Not as overwhelming. We haven't been to the outlet in a long time either. I don't know if I ever need to go again. I'd like to start buying clothes that represent a certain style I'm aiming for, rather than just because it fits.

After all the shopping, Steve worked on his bass (he's taking stuff off and putting new stuff on) and I cleaned a little. The windows were disgusting - smoke from the fireplace, I think. So I wiped them down with a wet rag and used a squeegee. Much easier than glass cleaner. That took all of 15 minutes, so then I piddled until my 5:30 massage appointment. Gotta get back on track with that. Not like I really needed it after five days of vacation, but still! It's good for you!

And then here I am. Back at work. Fluorescent lights. Ringing phone. Emails galore. People needing stuff. Pencils to be sharpened (yes, I'm serious. I love my job.)

Actually, the day started off with a jolt. I woke up to 2 inches of snow on the ground and more coming down. I believe "Crap" was the first word out of my mouth. Yes, it's pretty and I enjoy it very much on the weekends, but I don't like trying to drive in it and there was no way I could not come to work today. I did take my time getting ready and was in no hurry to make it here by 8am.

I slid backwards down my little driveway before I could actually make up over the little ridge to the road. Every time I took off from a stoplight, but backend would dance around a little. I don't think I got over 30mph the whole way here. And as of right now, the current temp is 34 degrees, so I'm guessing the drive home in three hours is going to be just as bad. Maybe the boss will be nice and let us leave a few minutes early, before the bulk of the commute starts up. Ha. Right.

I hope this works...I haven't been able to post lately b/c of some issues with my password! I'll do this as anonymous if I have to. ;-)

I love snow when I don't have to go out in it. Or, if there is so little that it won't cause many issues. I hate that feeling in the morning of "should I go in, or not?". And, since I live 45 miles from my office, it can be very different at home compared to at work.

Glad you had a good weekend!
