Life Out Here

Just a small way to keep my friends and family, who are strewn about the country, in The Know about my life in Seattle.

Inevitable

Well. It finally happened.
It all of my years of reading the obituaries on my lunch hour, I finally ran across someone I know.

Kenneth Kates, an attorney in Houston that I worked with at one of my very first Real Jobs, passed away this week. The obit says it was sudden, which screams heart attack to me, but could have been anything. I remember Ken smoked alot and laughed at things no one else found funny, either of which could have contributed to his death.

I chuckle at my own humor.
But him dying really isn't funny. I know that.

And yes, I read the obituaries. Because I have too much time on my hands, that's why. And mom used to do it every morning, just to see if she'd passed away yet.

There was also an "Audrey Peterson" listed today, but I don't think it's the same Audrey Peterson I know. Different husband.

Reading the obits must run in our family too. I read them - you never know when you might recognize someone. I wish obits told you the cause of death.
