Life Out Here

Just a small way to keep my friends and family, who are strewn about the country, in The Know about my life in Seattle.

Kristin's Visit

Well, Kristin has come and gone. It was good to hang out with her and get to know her. We've never really spent any quality time together.

Thursday, after picking her up at the airport, we just hung around Ballard. We walked down to Market Street for lunch and to toodle around. After Steve got home, we went to Blue C for dinner, then to the Crocodile Cafe to see ThorNton Creek play. Which is a really big deal for them. The Croc is a major live music venue - Pearl Jam, Nirvana, all those big bands have played there. TC was great. Good job, indeed.

Friday, we caught the bus to the downtown ferry terminal and took a ferry to Bainbridge Island. We had lunch, toodled, came back and hopped on the bus to the Space Needle. Got home, changed clothes and went to Rosita's for dinner. Then on to the Lock & Keel for some hangin' out (notice it's all about food already?)

Saturday, we went to breakfast and then attempted to go the Seahawks pro shop so I could get a Tshirt. But we ran right smack dab into Mariner's traffic. We had no idea there was game. We actually forgot we even had a baseball team. They haven't been playing so well. So we skipped the pro shop and headed to Snoqualmie Falls. Very pretty. But how long can you really stand there, looking at a big waterfall?

Here's a pretty picture of us:

After a few minutes, we headed back, and stopped at Pete's Wines in Bellevue - one of our favorite places! Our wine stock was running low, so we replinished that, then headed home as we were all sleepy from being in the car. We ate leftover mexican food, watched Shaun of the Dead, and then met up with friends at Sunset Bowl.

We played pretty well, and attempted karoke in the bar afterwards. But the Karoke Dude was a complete control freak and totally sucked the fun out of our karoke experience. The highlight was as I sang "Take A Chance On Me" (by Abba) Steve, Shaun (different Shaun than the movie), Katie and Kristin got up behind me and "danced". Actually they just made fools of themselves, except for Kristin who was annoyed by the Karoke Dude as well so she just watched the others in horror. Then Kristin and I sang "Why'd Ya Come In Here Lookin' Like That?", complete with thick twang. We didn't know it very well, so we sucked. But that's what karoke is all about. And Steve made up for it with his altered version of the song, which I will not reprint here because he had some beers in him so it a very, very dirty song. But he made us laugh.

Sunday, we headed back down to the Lock & Keel to watch the Redskins play, and win!! We pretty much had the place to ourselves for the most part. It was nice to have the big screen in front of us and the place empty so we could scream and cheer. I'm pretty sure that helped the 'Skins.

And I think I used up all of my good football energy on them, because I had nothing left to give during the Seahawks game, which is why they sucked so very bad. But that's okay! Ya gotta lose one sometime. That didn't help the mood during the game, but oh well.

And today I'm back at work. Yuck yuck yuck.
I need more sleep.

Sounds like you guys had a good time! I forgot to ask Kristin if she was working today. If she is, I know she's exhausted. Working sucks. Too bad we need money to live and play. Thanks for helping to cheer our Redskins to a victory. Sometimes we need all the help we can get!
