My 'Hood
There's a nice story in the Seattle Times this morning about my neighborhood, Ballard. It was once it's own city, but was annexed in 1908 by the city of Seattle for water. I have a bumper sticker that says "Free Ballard".
Ballard is a major growth spurt right now. Old historic homes are being torn down and condos and "skinnies" - those side by side, three story townhomes - are going up everywhere. But, to be optimistic, I guess if we didn't have multi-family housing, the price for a single-family house would be driven up even higher than it is now.
I'm glad Steve and I found an apartment (townhouse style) that we can afford. We have it pretty nice right now. And they say the bubble has to burst at some point. I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.
