Life Out Here

Just a small way to keep my friends and family, who are strewn about the country, in The Know about my life in Seattle.

Cake Makes It All Better

I'm having a stressful time at my job. There are a number of reasons and most of you know these reasons. I choose not to go into here because 1) I don't know exactly who reads this and 2) people get fired now-a-days for blogging about work. So. Let's just say I'm stressed. Heartburn is a constant thing now but that could also be because of the increased wine consumption since when I get home from work, the first thing I want is a glass of wine....then my jammies.

Anyway, today is no different. Running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I'm actually leaving early for a doctor's appointment (because along with heartburn, blemishes increase dramatically with stress. And I have done my time in that department). So I woofed down some lunch of pad thai from the bistro, which was unusually spicey - just what my gut needs right now - and as I was headed to the kitchen, a co worker rushed past me and said "Isn't there cake leftover from Friday?!"

Ooh. Why, yes there is.
Suddenly there was a smile on my face and a fork in my hand. And life started looking up.

Yes, I know a piece of cake is not the answer to heartburn, stress, pimples or weight loss. But man, it does wonders for a gal's mental state. Which means I can handle the heartburn, stress and pimples much better. I may beat myself up later over the weight loss thing, but that's later.

Let's live for the here and now, shall we?

Isn't it funny how being stressed at work can make you crave a glass of wine??? And eat the cake, girl - life's short.
